Fellowship of the Warmed Hearts Update 9/9/06 - by Dr. Herbert Tan [Sep. 9th, 2006|08:48 pm]
[Current Location |ye olde kitsch-shen]
[mood | thoughtful]
[music |the wiggles singing]

Many unchurched youths in Sitiawan are into gangsterism to different degrees; many youths in Subang Jaya are into pre-marital sex for recreational purposes; many IT generation youths are hooked onto pornography from secondary school days; many youths in major urban centres are involved in homosexuality; many youths belong to the fatherless generation because of psychological abandonment; many youths are lonely and hurting deep down in their hearts with no one they can talk to. And the list goes on and on.

What are you doing about it? Nice “clean” TRAC youths would rather keep their distance from such youths as though they were repulsive and ugly in character like the people of Nineveh in the book of Jonah chapter 1. But God has called ALL Christians (which includes youths like you) to reach out with His love, forgiveness, healing, and restoration.

In Jonah 1, the storms are raging all around as Jonah fled from Nineveh where God wants to work. As everyone else was trying to deal with the storm, here was someone who knew God but he was sleeping. The question that confronts him confronts us today. In the midst of the raging storms of the youth world, “How can you sleep?” What are you doing about it?

Can you picture yourself in Hibernation Mode OR Standby Mode as far as this generation is concerned? “How can you sleep?”

(no subject) [Aug. 26th, 2006|11:43 pm]
[Current Location |kee-churn]
[mood | annoyed]
[music |sinner's theme]

I'm forgiven, because you were forsaken,
I'm accepted, you were condemned,
I'm alive and well, your Spirit lives within me,
Because you died and rose again.

Thank you, Lord, for your forgiveness and mercy.

A weakness I have indeed, this "thorn" that you've graciously alleviated. But it remains, as a reminder to me of my fallen nature and how easily I can succumb to old patterns of sin.

Amen.

From Purpose Driven Life Day 30:

"When you were growing up, you may have discovered that you were intensely interested in some subjects that no one else in your family cared about. Where did those interests come from? They came from God. God had a purpose in giving you these inborn interests... don't ignore you interests. Consider how they might be used for God's glory. There is a reason that you love to do these things."

Thankfulness [Aug. 12th, 2006|02:45 pm]

[music |exhaust fan]

Today's Purpose Driven Life talks about overcoming temptation with the help of a spiritual partner to pray for each other.

For a friend who helped me through my dark days of temptation...

I am thankful for her, I am thankful.

"No temptation has overtaken you, that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

40DFP - day 20: HIV/AIDS [Aug. 12th, 2006|01:27 pm]
[Current Location |in between two lamps]
[mood | hot]
[music |rushing water]

When praying for something like HIV/AIDS, I just can't help but feel almost powerless to stop the advance of a disease that is spreading like wildfire...

Yet I must trust that He hears.

He hears.

He knows.

He cares.

"Our Love is Loud" by the David Crowder Band

When we sing
Hear our songs, to You
When we dance
Feel us move, to You
When we laugh
Fill our smiles, with You

Pre-Chorus:
When we lift our voices
Louder still
Can You hear us?
Can You feel?

Chorus:
We love You, Lord
We love You
We love You
We love You, Lord
We love You
We love You

When we sing [LOUD!]
Hear our songs, to You
When we dance [ROUND!]
Feel us move, to You
When we laugh [ALOUD!]
Fill our smiles, with You

(Pre-Chorus)

(Chorus)

Bridge:
And our love is big
Our love is loud
Fill this place with this love now [4x]
And our love is big
Our love is loud
Fill our lungs
To sing it now...

(Chorus [4x])

Out:
We lift our voices louder still
Our God is near
Our God is here
